Abstract: Objective To investigate the relationship between the rs2976392 polymorphism of the PSCA gene and the risk of gastric cancer. Methods A total of 155 patients with gastric cancer and 210 healthy controls were recruited in Shandong and genotyped at the rs2976392 locus using PCR-based DNA sequence analysis and direct DNA sequencing. Results GG,GA and AA genotypes were identified at the rs2976392 locus, with the following frequencies in patients(and controls):GG,43.23%(50.95%);GA, 41.94% (41.43%);and AA, 14.84%(7.62%).The risk of gastric cancer was significantly higher in individuals with a GA or AA genotype than in those with a GG genotype(GA:OR 1.19,95%CI 0.77-1.86;AA:OR 2.30,95%CI 1.13-4.66). Conclusions Polymorphism at the rs2976392 locus of the PSCA gene is associated with the incidence of gastric cancer.
